Kerry Fernandez simply known as Kerry is a singer /songwriter from West New York, New Jersey. Since 2003 she has put out 2 solo albums (Purple Sunrise, Being Human) and performed in the New York/New Jersey area to support these works. She has recorded Spanish and English vocals for Roland Ruby and Christian Fabian (Fabian Zone, Chaka Khan, Lionel Hampton) as well as writing music for wedding vows and a theme song for a Spanish children’s educational cartoon which is currently being animated. In addition, Kerry has recently performed with IC Express at the 1st Annual Jazz Improv Live! Convention and Festival.
In her own personal work, Kerry’s music is lyrically driven, based on her own personal experiences she feels others can relate to. Her melodically soulful vocals are supported by her bass guitar—her song writing tool of choice. Her style comes from a rock/pop foundation, tying in layers of Jazz, Blues, Latin, and Alternative styles.
Currently, she is working with Nelson Pla and Joseph Pla of the band clueLess lining up performances in the tri-state area as well as performing and recording with IC Express. Kerry has also been performing her song Cubana Americana which was chosen for the documentary Lejos de la Isla (Official 2007 Orlando Film Festival Selection) at various universities where this documentary has been screened successfully. Kerry is also working on music for the theater production Me Too, a new project from Julio Tumbaco and Jim Gibson of JJ Entertainment.
Kerry's future plans include her next album slated to be released in early 2009 as well as writing, recording and performing with and for her fellow artists.
