Restorative yoga, also known as Therapeutic Yoga is a style of yoga that uses props to support the body, encouraging deep relaxation. Using passive yoga asanas (postures) we let our nervous systems shift into rest and digest mode (the relaxation mode) and enjoy the benefit of true deep rest. We will concentrate on surrendering our bodies to supports including bolsters, blankets and blocks and softening into the stretches. This helps us to relieve the effects of negative stress encountered in daily life and can be highly beneficial in times of fatigue, illness, and emotional strain. Our focus will be to calm and nurture ourselves on all levels during the class. Healing touch, breath work and guided meditation are part of this process and will help to create an environment that supports the body, mind and spirit in the process of healing. Music and aromatherapy enhance the experience, encouraging a total sense of letting go.
What you experience in this workshop is something you can take with you and incorporate in your daily healing practice, stepping away from the hectic energy of the outside world and accessing the deeper wisdom that resides within you.
